REVIEW: Etude House Color My Brows in #01 Rich Brown

Hello Beauties!!!

If you follow me, you might know how much I love to experiment with brow products since I was not naturally gifted with thick and full eyebrows. As at date, I am still enjoying my Innisfree Eco Brow pencil in No. 1 Grey on an almost daily basis since August 2015. I love it so much I just cannot leave the house without it. But okay, we are not just going to flaunt the merits of that pencil since I've already done so in a previous post. Please check it out.

This time, I experimented a whole new kind of product for me (yeah me who live on a lost island), it's the Etude House Color My Brows in #01 Rich Brown. I've never used a brow mascara before and seeing how much Korean makeup artists use those, I badly wanted to try these out and know if they are worth the hype.

What it is

A mascara only for eyebrow to keep its layer neat and give natural but urbane colors.

What it does

- Hide dark & black brow: Providing natural and clear brow colors by hiding its own dark color.
- Easy & Quick brow coloring: Quickly dried to make brow layer and color fixed even while re-applying.
- Brow care: Allantoin, Beeswax, Carnauba wax provide nutrition and moisture on skin and brow.

Detail

#1 Rich Brown: For dark hair such as black or dark brown
#2 Light Brown: For bright hair such as blondie light brown
#3 Red Brown: For reddish hair such as wine, red brown
#4 Natural Brown: For bright hair such as natural brown
#5 Blondie Brown: For very bright hair such as gold, blondie brown
#1 Rich Brown (the one I purchased)
#2 Light Brown
#3 Red Brown

#4 Natural Brown
#5 Blondie Brown

How to apply

- Lightly touch eyebrow in the opposite direction of eyebrow to layer color.
- Comb towards eyebrow layer to make them neat. Make brow head's layer to stand.

Caution

1. Use only as directed.
2. Avoid storing in high and low temperatures and areas exposed to direct sunlight.
3. Cease use if problems arise.

Weight (g) 17
Size 0.15 oz. / 4.5 g

I bought it on Etude House Online Store for $7.80 only. I bought the 4.5g version but there is also the 9 g version for $ 10.40 . If you wanna commit to it for a longer time, then 9g could be a go-to

The product comes in a very simple packaging.  Cute as always. I won't say it is a box. it looks like a piece of folded and cut out paper. Not that practical as the mascara tube kept falling out and it ends up being misplaced every time I look for it. The mascara tube is a simple glossy brown plastic tube.

List of Ingredients

For Korean readers :D

The spooley is similar to that of a mascara although a little bit thicker. Unfortunately, it didn't make application that easy. If you like the thick straight korean brow style, it could be fine. But if you are more of the thin and arched type, using that brush can be a hassle to draw your brows.

Brush

Anyways, regarding the mascara itself, it looks like any usual mascara, a bit thick and waxy. If you smell closely, it has a strong chemical smell, like mascara. It is very pigmented. So, you have to go with a light hand on this one.

Swatch

It looked a bit too brown for me. When I was choosing among the options on the Etude House website, the first option, although described it as Rich brown, looked more of a greyish brown, like on the model. I really thought it would match my hair. But not at all.  It didn't look like in the ad at all. It was so freaking brown. I love Etude but it's not the first time I experienced that kind of misinformation (refer to my review of the Etude House Dear My Wish Lips-Talk O202)

Please just imagine that my hair is brown.lol
Hopefully on pictures, it doesn't look like it's obvious that it's mascara. If my hair were brown, I guess it would look pretty good on me. But in practice, I don't really like the way it looks on my face. It makes me look so fake. If only the mascara could match my dark hair and it was supposed to, from the description given above by Etude House.

Moreover, I have barely no brows. So this stuff sticks to my skin instead of my brows and makes the latter look so drawn on. I feel like I've used a brow tattoo, like the Clio one instead (it made me not want to try out brow tattoos, though). I watched a few more videos online and found that those who use it have more brows than I do, so they can work on the brows and gave them a thicker and voluminous appearance. It looked so good on Pony though. But when you have so little brows to work on, how can you do that? I tried emulating them but to no avail. If I stick to just trying to brush through my eyebrow hairs, there is pretty much no product that adheres to them.

Matching eyeshadows didn't make things better

The advantage with it is that it is long lasting. It does not fade that much if you sweat or stuff like that, unlike brow powders which fall out. It didn't lighten or colored my eyebrows. It looked as if I had dark hairs on a brown canvas.

Pros:
-Long lasting
-Portable
-Cheap
-Pigmented

Cons:
-Not appropriate for girls with dark hair
-More a brow tattoo than a mascara
-Chemical scent
-Not so practical brush
-Did not lighten my eyebrow color

Conclusion

In general, I'd say if you wanna go with decently dyed eyebrows, and if you were born with  eyebrows (unlike me), I'd recommend it to you or if you have lighter hair color. But I'm not repurchasing that product again unless they introduce shades for dark hair for real. It's sad they have only light shades.

Anyways, how did you find my review? Which brow product should I try next time? Brow Tattoo (not a permanent one though o.O)? Etude House Tint my Brows Gel (that thing totally freaks me out O.O)? Kindly let me know in the comments section or on my social media. I'd be glad to know what you think.

Stay Beautiful and Sweet
